Dr Ann-Maree Moodie is a consultant to Boards, Non-Executive Directors and CEOs with 20 years’ experience conducting governance assignments for, and providing formal and informal advice to, ASX-listed company Boards, and the Boards of superannuation funds and not-for-profit organisations.
Dr Moodie’s professional qualifications equip her particularly well for a thoughtful, methodically rigorous Board Review, and to deliver a report that conveys the findings and Recommendations with clarity and insight, so that the Board can act effectively on the results.
She also advises CEOs and senior leadership teams on how to communicate successfully with their Boards through Board paper writing and Board presentation training.
Dr Moodie’s experience working with listed company Boards includes mining, fast-moving consumer goods, banking, financial services, funds management, infrastructure, rail freight operations, property, retail asset management and healthcare.
She also advises Trustee Boards in the superannuation sector, and has a thriving NFP practice with a breadth of experience in the arts, environment, disability and social housing sectors.
Dr Moodie was awarded her doctorate from Macquarie University for her research on “independence and conformity in Board decision-making”. One of her examiners stated that the thesis is in the “top 10% of PhD theses on corporate governance globally”. Another stated that Dr Moodie is “steeped in the experience of the environment and the practice of boards”.
Dr Moodie also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Journalism and Japanese) (RMIT), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Editing and Electronic Publishing, (Macquarie University) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (Governance Institute of Australia). She is also a Graduate of the AICD’s Company Directors Course.
Dr Moodie is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (UK).
In 2019, Dr Moodie is participating in the prestigious Asialink Leaders Program, a flagship professional development program which “brings together outstanding professionals from the corporate, government and community sectors to foster a regional network of leaders with knowledge, skills and networks to enable them to engage more effectively in the Asia region”.
Dr Moodie contributes to governance leadership in Australia as the Chairman of the Communications Committee of the Board of the Governance Institute of Australia and as a member of the Governance Institute’s Subject Advisory Committee for its flagship Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance.
